Bhutan will remain closed to international tourists due to the continued spread of coronavirus.

Writing on Twitter today, the PM of Bhutan said restrictions introduced on March 5 would apply until further notice.

“While the situation at home is under control, the global trend of coronavirus is not encouraging for us to lift the ban.”

All schools and educational institutes across the country were told to close from today. The government has ordered the closure of “nightclubs, discotheques and other joints that draw huge crowd”.

An American tourist became the first person to test positive for coronavirus in Bhutan.
