2021: See the US in style with these good business class deals from India

  • June 20, 2020

With international flights expected to become a possibility soon, we bring to you great fares from India with oneworld airline, JAL, with options to fly to and back from different cities in the United States.

Table of Contents

  • Japan Airlines’ attractive fare to Los Angeles
  • See more of California by flying into LA, and back from San Francisco
  • Fly even further with an option to New York
  • Summing up

Japan Airlines’ attractive fare to Los Angeles

The best deal for today is a return fare from Delhi to Los Angeles with JAL, which is a five-star rated airline by Skytrax, and is priced at INR 171,363 (USD 2,249).

Flights between Delhi and Tokyo (Haneda Airport) are on the Boeing 777 which features JAL’s Sky Suite, described by the Japanese carrier as a ‘private space on par with First Class’.

While the entire journey is ticketed by JAL, the flights between Tokyo and Los Angeles are operated by JAL’s oneworld partner American Airlines on its Boeing 787.

This fare is widely available from August 2020, all the way until May 2021, and JAL Mileage Bank members will earn a total of 22,794 miles on this journey and Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan members will earn a whopping 41,030 miles.

For the same price, you also have the option to book open-jaw itineraries, which allow you to fly into one US city, and return from another.

See more of California by flying into LA, and back from San Francisco

In this itinerary, the Delhi to Los Angeles segments are the same as above, with the flight from Tokyo to Los Angeles on American Airlines’ Boeing 787.

The return leg from the US is on JAL’s Boeing 777 and departs from San Francisco, where you could board the Coast Starlight train, which we’ve mentioned in our article on Booking the first flight since lockdown.

At INR 171,363 (USD 2,249), this is priced the same as the first fare, and can also be booked up until May 2021. This journey will earn you a total of 22,384 JAL Mileage Bank miles, and 40,292 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles .

The open-jaw itinerary above can also be booked in reverse, which means you will fly into San Francisco and depart from Los Angeles.

Fly even further with an option to New York

If you want to see even more of the US, there are itineraries available that take in New York or Chicago, allowing you to explore the East Coast or the Midwest on your dream trip – though the price increases a little.

JAL’s flat-bed Sky Suite III, which is offered on flights from Delhi to Tokyo

The first example is for a flight to Los Angeles and a return from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York priced at INR 179,203 (USD 2,352). The segment from Tokyo to Los Angeles is the only one operated by American Airlines, with the rest of the legs on JAL’s Boeing 777.

This fare earns JMB members a total of 24,396 miles and Mileage Plan members 43,913 miles, and is available for travel up until May 2021.

Our second example lets you fly into San Francisco and out of New York. All the segments of this journey are operated by JAL, however there is a long layover of nine and half hours in Tokyo before you board your flight to San Francisco (though you may be able to find itineraries with shorter connections, depending on travel dates).

Once again, this fare is available for travel until May 2021, and will earn JMB members 23,986 and Mileage Plan members 43,175 reward miles.

This last deal for today allows you to fly into the United States from Chicago and return from Los Angeles. All the segments of this journey are operated by JAL.

This deal will earn JMB members 23,813 and Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan members 42,864 reward miles.

Summing up

JAL’s Sky Suite is said to be a good enough business class product out there and when matched with the world-famous Japanese service, it becomes even more desirable.

This is a good opportunity for oneworld members to take a trip to USA, and also earn rewards flying in JAL’s business class.
