India’s Oberoi is gearing up to make its first foray into the European market, though we’ll have to wait a while.

Oberoi to offer serviced residences in a listed building in Mayfair

Oberoi’s home in London will be 17-22 South Audley Street - a Grade II listed building located in the upmarket area of Mayfair. In the UK, listed buildings are those considered to have special architectural or historic interest and are considered to be of national importance.

The building was acquired by Oberoi’s partner, Cain International, in 2016. Constructed in 1845, but rebuilt to designs by architect Ernest George, who designed Southwark Bridge, the 48,000 sq ft property will also house a small restaurant and refurbished retail space.

Due for completion in 2022, the 23 Oberoi-branded residences at South Audley Street will offer “exceptional living at the heart of one of the most attractive and sought-after locations in prime central London”.

Jonathan Goldstein, chief executive of Cain International, which has teamed up with Six Senses, Waldorf Astoria, Hilton, Raffles Hotel & Residences and Aman Hotel & Residences on other projects, said:

“With a reputation for exceptional service and guest experience, Oberoi is widely regarded as one of the very best in the hospitality industry. We are excited to be forging this new partnership, that will see one of the world’s most authoritative brands on high-end service coming to Europe, and choosing London as the location for its debut.”

Oberoi’s newest hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco

We recently wrote about a great deal on business class flights to Morocco, where Oberoi opened its newest hotel in December.

The Oberoi, Marrakech is located in 28 acres of landscaped gardens, citrus orchards and olive groves and boasts spectacular views of the snow–capped Atlas Mountains.

The resort is located twenty five minutes from the Djema el-Fna square and the ancient walled city and sounds like the perfect sanctuary to enjoy when the hustle and bustle of Marrakech gets a little too much.

Altogether, the Oberoi Group owns and operates 33 five-star hotels and luxury resorts across India, Indonesia, Morocco, Mauritius, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. As well as hotels, Oberoi has two Nile Cruisers and a Motor Vessel in the backwaters of Kerala.
