The Postcard Moira, Goa – in pictures

Here is an in-pictures article on The Postcard Moira, a beautiful property located in the village of Moira. I was invited to this property for the evening and dinner, so here I was, at The Postcard Moira, I was happy to try somewhere new for dinner and drinks, and here’s what I found…

I managed to pack a lot into my recent trip to Goa, with stays at the luxurious ITC Grand Goa Resort & Spa and five nights in a traditional Portuguese villa that I found on Airbnb.

My itinerary also included a one-night stay at The Postcard Velha. For those not familiar, Postcard is a small collection of super-luxury (with prices to match) hotels in India, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.

A dinner date at The Postcard Moira

Arranging my visit with Kartik, the person in charge at the Moira, I was asked to make my arrival after 5.30pm – since he was busy getting a fresh catch for dinner (so far, so impressed!).

My friend and I finally arrived at around 6pm and, since they have plenty of space inside, I parked the car within the property itself.

There’s a lawn at the front of the house, with tables and chairs set out.

As we entered the villa, we first stepped into the beautifully-designed lobby area. Pretty cool!

The Postcard Moira has just nine rooms, a swimming pool, a spa suite, and a large community area that features a communal dining table, a bar, and a TV screen along with comfortable seating for lounging.

Kartik showed us around each of the different category rooms, starting with the two luxury rooms, which are 400 sq feet and come with an interconnecting balcony between both the rooms.

ext up were the four premiere rooms with inner courtyard. These were larger at 650 sq feet in size.

There are also two Moira duplex suites, each one is 750 sq feet in size and features a double bed on the mezzanine level above (accessed via some steep stairs inside the room). There is also an outdoor bath and a shower in this room, which I like the idea of.

The best room in the house is the Moira suite with a footprint of 1,100 sq feet. It features a four-poster bed, a separate living area, and a balcony.

After our tour of the rooms, we went to check out the communal facilities, which are separated from the villa by the pool and a well that is said to be one of the oldest in the village.

We enjoyed our cocktails by the pool, and in the lounging area, before taking dinner at around 9pm. Pandurang suggested a menu, and I was happy to go ahead with his choice.

He served us fish and chips and chicken kokum wrap along with tartar sauce and kokum mayo for starters.

For main course there was prawn balchao (a Goan pickled curry sauce) and fish ambotik (hot and tangy Goan curry), which was served with butter garlic poi (bread) and steamed rice.

This was followed by the famous Goan desserts – serra dura and bebinca (which was served with coconut gelato).

The food at The Postcard Moira was pretty good, and the ambience made it even better.

We finally left at 10.30pm, after spending around five hours at the property. I am glad we drove to this place instead of riding a bike because we experienced a very heavy rain shower on the way back.

This seemed like the perfect place to plan a getaway, and I especially liked the fact that you can stay at such a quiet resort while still having easy access to the happening town of Calangute (just 25 minutes away).

Dinner and drinks here were really good and, during my visit, I saw some guests enjoying a game of chess by the pool – which highlights the chilled-out vibe at the property.

Following my stay at the Postcard Velha (which was also good), I did leave Goa wishing I’d made time to include a stay at The Postcard Moira.

What are your thoughts about The Postcard Moira? Have you visited this or any other Postcard property?
