Domestic airline Vistara has confirmed the closure of its own branded lounge at Delhi airport.
Vistara’s domestic lounge in Delhi
The airline’s lounge for business class and Club Vistara Gold passengers was opened to much fanfare in early 2016, in Terminal 3 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The 250 sqm lounge boasted a business centre with individual work stations, a VIP room and seating for 75 guests, as well as wifi, food service, a bar and wellness therapy.
Located next to boarding gate 41, it was opened by film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor and hailed as “Vistara’s first and one-of-a-kind signature lounge at our hub, Delhi”.
Switching to Plaza Premium Lounge
Today, Vistara confirmed to us that it has “discontinued our exclusive lounge effective 01-Apr-20 in conjunction with the expiry of our lease with the airport. We have partnered Premium Plaza Lounge at the Delhi T3 domestic terminal to offer customers a quality lounge experience.”
The airline's website has already been updated, offering passengers the chance to “sit back, relax and indulge in sumptuous food at the Premium Plaza Lounge as you wait for your flight”.
Customers are promised an exclusive, luxurious seating area, with a “delicious buffet and live food counters”, as well as private rooms where you can unwind.
Club Vistara Platinum and Gold members enjoy complimentary lounge access when travelling with Vistara, both within and outside India.
It’s a shame to see Vistara’s own lounge disappear, and we hope that the experience in Delhi will be better than the one we had with Plaza Premium Lounge in Hyderabad.
