Vistara: How does the airline’s partnership with British Airways work?

In September 2018, British Airways announced it was extending its codeshare partnership with Vistara, the Singapore Airlines-Tata joint venture airline in India.

The partnership means that customers can fly from a number of Indian cities, travelling internally with Vistara before connecting to one of British Airways’ flights from Chennai, Mumbai or Delhi.

Flights to the UK (and beyond) can be booked directly with British Airways from 13 Indian destinations, including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Goa, Kolkata, Kochi, and Pune.

ote that it isn’t possible to book purely domestic Vistara flights with BA – you must be connecting on to one of BA’s long-haul services from India.

Earning Avios

As part of the codeshare agreement, British Airways Executive Club members can collect Avios and earn tier points when booking on ‘BA’ coded Vistara flights.

Passengers travelling on the codeshare flights will also be able to check their bags straight through to their final destination, while both airlines use the same terminals at Delhi and Mumbai airports, making it easy for customers to take their connections.

On board

Customers travelling on Vistara will enjoy complimentary meals and can choose between three different cabins, including India’s only premium economy class.

Vistara premium economy

British Airways says it is rolling out a £4.5 billion, five-year customer investment plan that includes the installation of high quality Wi-Fi and the delivery of 72 new aircraft.

BA offers dedicated services on flights to India, including tailored menus and local language speaking cabin crew.

Summing up

British Airways already operates direct flights from London Heathrow to Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

The airline’s partnership with Vistara means customers in additional Indian cities can make convenient one-stop bookings with BA, with a connecting flight carried out by Vistara. They can also earn Avios and have their bags checked through to their final destination.

Head over to ba.com to search and book your flight.

Have you travelled on one of BA’s partnership flights with Vistara?
